Magic not looking to add C

Via Nick Borges of ESPN...

The Magic don't have a lot of depth at center and have inquired about New York's Ronny Turiaf and Philadelphia's Tony Battie, but head coach Stan Van Gundy says the team is not in a rush to bring in a big man.
"I don't think it's as big a necessity as what other people think right now," Van Gundy told the Orlando Sentinel after practice on Friday.
"Otis (general manager Otis Smith) is always looking," Van Gundy added. "It's a matter of when the guy is available that you like. I think the one thing you don't want to do is just go out and commit to anybody and that takes you out of being able to get somebody who could really help you. So, I think right now we're OK."
According to the newspaper, Smith feels they only need another true center to play against five other teams. They might bring in someone on Jan. 5 when teams can begin signing players to 10-day contracts.

With the Magic still working on integrating J-Rich, Agent Zero and and Hedo into the offense, the worry to add a big man now is not urgent.  However, the trades did make them weaker on defense and with Dwight Howard's technical foul problems, the team will need a decent backup big man.  I still feel that the Rashard Lewis for Arenas trade was one too much, as it will force the Magic to go with a small lineup for most of games and the absence of a decent back up big only intensifies that.
