Update on Scott Feldman

Via Jason A. Churchill of ESPN...

Right-hander Scott Feldman, who won 17 games for the Rangers in 2009 and could play an important role in either the rotation or the bullpen in 2011. But the soon-to-be 28-year-old may start spring training on the trainer's table and unable to fight for a job, reports MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan.
Depending on his recovery time after knee surgery, Feldman could find himself on the DL, continues Sullivan, while the rest of the candidates are strutting their stuff for manager Ron Washington.
We may not know more until camp opens in six weeks, but the Rangers may have to plan for the possibility of being without Feldman early in 2011, giving young arms such as Derek Hollandand Tanner Scheppers a leg up in the battle for a spot on the Opening Day Roster.

With the loss of Cliff Lee to the Phillies, the Rangers will need someone in their pitching staff to step up.  While it may take time for Feldman to find his way back on the major league roster, filling in for Cliff Lee is no small task and the Rangers will need all the help they can get.
